About JFC Ambassador Sydney
Sydney Smart, Age 13
About Me: Some people call me “Syd” and enjoy the subject of Science very much. I like to swim, learn new facts, relax, play football and exercise. I have two brothers and I like to talk a lot. I tend to come out bit by bit. I would like to become a biologist, pharmacist, dentist or orthodontist.
About Journey for Change: I like being a part of Journey for Change because it makes me feel good about me. Since becoming a part of Journey for Change, I am inspired to adopt or sponsor a child that is less fortunate than me when I get older. Also, I will take the knowledge that serving others in an opportunity to give back and show that you are thankful and that it is pretty hard to stop once you have started. When I traveled to South Africa on the plane and looked out of the window and saw the desert and, I said to myself “Wow, I’m on another continent!” It was such a memorable moment for me.
About the World: Two issues that concern me are girl circumcision in Africa and the sacrificial murder and mutilation of Albinos in other areas of Africa. I saw a documentary about how Albinos are being treated. I would like to see something done about this.
Ancestry/Genealogy: My direct ancestors are from the Mende tribe of Sierra Leone, West Africa.
